U12 and up . Create and use a 2v1 . Keep the ball under real pressure
Rondo: Four Grid + Neutrals
Set up
- Field
- Divide a large square into four equal quarters and place one small pop-up goal on the outside edge of every quarter, facing inward.
- Players
- 14 or more players. Use 14 players: two attackers in each quarter, one defender in each quarter, and two neutral players. One neutral stands on the line between the two top quarters and the other on the line between the two bottom quarters; each stays on that line for the whole drill.
- Balls
- Keep one ball active in each quarter, for four live balls total. After a score or ball out, restart that same ball with the attacking pair.
How it runs
- 1.Each quarter runs a separate 2v1.
- 2.Each neutral slides along its line and supports whichever of its two quarters needs help, making it 3v1 there, without stepping off the line.
- 3.The attackers keep possession and count passes.
- 4.If the defender wins the ball, that player immediately attacks the small outside goal.
- 5.The neutrals keep sliding along their lines toward whichever of their two quarters needs support most.
After each rep
Play is continuous. After a goal or a ball leaving the area, restart that ball with the attacking pair. When a defender scores, that defender fetches the ball from the goal and passes it back to the pair. The neutrals keep sliding along their lines between their two quarters.
How to win
Eight consecutive passes earn the attacking pair 1 point; a defender who wins the ball and scores in the small goal earns 2 points.
