Target Man: End Zones

Set up

Field
Mark a 54x30 yrd field divided into 3 sections, with A and B serving as end zones. Make the middle zone roughly 30x50 yrds, adjusting it to match the desired intensity.
Players
12 or more players. Play 5vs5 with 2 neutral players positioned in the end zones. Use Yellow against Red.

How it runs

  1. 1.Work for 20 minutes with 3 rest periods of 2 mins at 5-minute intervals.
  2. 2.Neutral players are limited to 2 touches.
  3. 3.The two neutrals are not allowed to pass directly to each other with one long ball.
  4. 4.Keep the game continuous.
  5. 5.Teams may score in either direction.
  6. 6.To demonstrate the sequence, N1 begins in Zone A by playing into Y1.
  7. 7.Y1 finds Y2.
  8. 8.Y2 plays forward into neutral target N2 in Zone B.
  9. 9.N2 uses no more than 2 touches to return the ball to Yellow, which now tries to work the ball back toward the original end zone.
  10. 10.Y3 completes the sequence by finding N1 for 1pt.

After each rep

After scoring, the possession team immediately tries to repeat the same end-to-end sequence for another point. When the defenders win the ball, they become the attacking team and the other group defends. Balls that leave along the side are restarted with kick-ins or by the coach playing a fresh ball to an open player on the team that did not put it out.

How to win

A team earns 1pt by keeping possession and successfully playing into both end zones. To score, the ball must travel from one end-zone neutral to the neutral at the opposite end and then back again without the opponents winning it.
