Rondo: Continuous Transition

Set up

Field
Mark two adjoining 10x10-yard grids, creating one 10x20 yard area with 6 cones.
Players
11 or more players. Use 11 players: 3 permanent possession players and two teams of 4. The yellow group of 3 always supports possession, with one player inside and two on the end lines; the red group of 4 begins as the outside possession team, while the blue group of 4 starts inside as defenders.

How it runs

  1. 1.Red combines with the three yellow support players to keep possession with quick passes.
  2. 2.Blue presses inside the grid and tries to win the ball.
  3. 3.If blue gains possession, the team must quickly connect a pass to an outside player and becomes the new possession group.
  4. 4.Red, having lost the ball, immediately moves inside and becomes the defending team.
  5. 5.Continue the activity without stopping as the two four-player teams repeatedly exchange attacking and defending roles.
  6. 6.Use 3-5 minute rounds and demand constant movement and fast transitions.

After each rep

Rotate which team fills the possession role.
