U6 to U10 . Keep the ball close when you run with it . Look up while you dribble
Sharks and Minnows
Set up
- Field
- Use a cone-marked square with no other equipment inside it. Make the grid smaller between rounds.
- Players
- 8 to 20 players. Everyone begins inside the grid. Two or three players are sharks without balls; every other player is a minnow with a ball.
- Balls
- Start with one ball for each minnow and none for the sharks. When a minnow loses a ball, that player becomes a shark and the ball does not return, so fewer balls remain active as the game continues.
How it runs
- 1.Start the minnows with their balls along one side and place the sharks in the middle.
- 2.On the signal, all minnows dribble toward the opposite side.
- 3.The sharks try to knock balls outside the grid.
- 4.Any minnow who loses a ball becomes a shark and joins the middle immediately. (The source says the player becomes a shark for the next round, but the stated last-survivor ending requires immediate conversion; this version follows the interpretation that makes the game function.)
- 5.Continue until only one minnow still has a ball.
After each rep
The final minnow wins, selects the sharks for the next round, and then the coach reduces the grid size before restarting.
How to win
The round is won by the last minnow who still has a ball.
