U10 and up . Defend immediately after losing the ball . Attack quickly after winning it

Rondo: 5v3v1

Set up

Field
Mark a 20x20 yard grid.
Players
8 or more players. Create two teams of five and one team of three, all in different colors. From one five-player team, place four around the outside and one inside the grid. Put all three players from the three-player team inside. With 16 or more players, run two grids at the same time.
Balls
Keep extra balls close by for fast restarts.

How it runs

  1. 1.Begin with the three-player team keeping the ball against one defender in a 3v1 inside the grid.
  2. 2.Those three attackers pass and move while the single defender tries to win possession.
  3. 3.When the lone defender wins the ball, that player immediately finds any outside player.
  4. 4.Once the ball reaches the outside, the activity becomes a 5v3, with four outside players and one inside player keeping possession.
  5. 5.The team of three now becomes the defending group and tries to win the ball back.
  6. 6.The four perimeter players stay outside and circulate the ball while using the inside teammate.
  7. 7.If the three defenders win possession, the play switches immediately back into a 3v1 inside the area.
  8. 8.Continue alternating between the two rondo shapes as possession changes.

After each rep

As the original single defender releases the ball outside, that player exchanges roles with one of the three defenders, who becomes the new single attacker for the next 3v1.
