U12 to U18 . Create width and depth in possession . Finish the attack
Crossing Waves
Set up
- Field
- Use one full-size goal with a marked wide channel on each side.
- Players
- 9 to 18 players. Put a line of wingers in both channels, each with its own ball supply, and create two attacker lines at the top of the box.
- Keeper
- Yes, in goal.
- Balls
- Use at least twelve balls split between the two wide channels so every next winger is ready to start.
How it runs
- 1.The first winger drives to the end line and crosses.
- 2.Two attackers time their runs, one toward the near post and one toward the far post. (The source summary also mentions the penalty spot, but the actual instructions list only two runners, so this version keeps the two-runner sequence.)
- 3.Finish first time when possible.
- 4.Both attackers leave the box immediately after the chance.
- 5.Start the next wave from the opposite wing.
After each rep
Alternate the waves from side to side without stopping. Rotate attackers and wingers after every six crosses.
How to win
The source does not require scoring; goals may be counted if the coach wants a competitive measure.
