Set up

Field
Mark a field about 40 yards wide by 30 yards long. Put a small goal or Pugg Goal on each end line. Place four cones near the corners of the field, approximately 5 yards in from the sideline.
Players
4 or more players. Divide the team into two groups. One group begins on a sideline as the defenders. The other group starts on the opposite sideline as the attackers and has a supply of balls.

How it runs

  1. 1.The first attacker passes across the field to the first defender.
  2. 2.The two players move toward the middle of the grid, staying about 5 yards apart while they pass the ball back and forth.
  3. 3.When the attacker chooses the moment, the attacker breaks from the passing pattern and goes toward either small goal.
  4. 4.Because the defender does not know which goal will be attacked, the defender must react to the attacker's movement.
  5. 5.The attacker can use a fake or feint and change direction at any point.

After each rep

After a goal or when the ball goes out, both players run around the cone nearest the goal they were attacking on their side, then sprint across to the cone near the opposite goal. The next attacker and defender begin the same sequence. Switch the lines so every player gets time in both attacking and defending roles.
