Protect the Rock
Set up
- Field
- Create one small disc-cone circle for each pair and leave enough space between circles that neighboring groups do not collide.
- Players
- 2 or more players. Work in pairs, with one attacker and one defender inside each circle; all pairs can work at the same time.
- Balls
- Use one ball per pair and place it in the middle at the start. There is no spare ball inside the circle; when the rep ends, reset the same ball.
How it runs
- 1.Place the ball in the center, with the defender over it and the attacker starting near the edge.
- 2.On the signal, the attacker tries to poke the ball out.
- 3.The defender keeps the body between the attacker and the ball and uses active footwork to stay in the way.
- 4.Stop the repetition when the ball leaves the circle or after roughly ten to fifteen seconds.
After each rep
Switch the attacking and defending roles after every repetition. After several reps, change partners so players face different opponents.
How to win
The defender wins by protecting the ball for the entire count.
