Defensive Pair: Go and Cover

Set up

Field

20x25 with one small goal.

Players

4 or more players. 2v2, two attackers try to score, two defenders protect the goal.

How it runs

1. 1.Only one defender goes to the ball; the other stays behind them to cover.
2. 2.The other does not follow. They drop in behind, covering the pass across.
3. 3.The pass across is the obvious one, and the cover defender is already sitting on it.

After each rep

Swap roles every couple of rounds so both players learn each job.
