U9 and up . Spread out and give a passing option . Progress the ball forward
Passing Pyramid: 3v2
Set up
- Field
- Use a cone-marked rectangle with no goals.
- Players
- 6 or more players. Arrange four attackers in a pyramid: one at the base, one centrally, and two at the top. Two opponents begin outside and enter once the possession pattern is established.
- Balls
- Start with one ball at the base and keep spare balls beside that player so a turnover can be restarted immediately.
How it runs
- 1.The base player starts by finding the midfielder.
- 2.The midfielder turns or sets the ball into one of the two top players.
- 3.That player can go wide or switch to the other top player.
- 4.The two opponents then enter and apply pressure.
- 5.The four attackers continue combining and moving to keep possession against the two defenders.
After each rep
If possession is lost, restart from the base. Rotate positions every few minutes so players experience every role.
How to win
The original activity has no required score. One optional scoring method from the variations is to award a point for successfully playing from the base through all three lines.
