U9 and up . Shoot when the goal is there . Finish the attack
Overload to Goal: 4v2
Set up
- Field
- Mark a grid across the width of the field extending about 25 yards from the main goal; the area should be roughly 50x25 yards. Put a portable goal 25 yards away from the primary goal.
- Players
- 10 or more players. Divide the players into two teams and place a goalkeeper in each goal.
- Keeper
- Yes, one in each goal.
- Balls
- Position each team on both sides of the goalposts, with one side holding a supply of balls.
How it runs
- 1.Two target players from the attacking team begin near the goal they will attack, while their teammates start at the goal they are defending.
- 2.The targets check toward the ball and ask for service from the teammates near the defensive end.
- 3.The opposing team sends 2 defenders out to close those target players.
- 4.The starting attacker plays into the target's feet and the attacking group then goes 4v2 toward goal.
- 5.The target reads the pressure and decides whether to turn and shoot or lay the ball back to the midfielders.
- 6.If a defender wins possession, the defenders counter 2vs4 toward the opposite goal.
After each rep
Alternate the direction so the other team also gets a 4v2 attack toward its goal. Rotate the forwards through the target-player roles.
