U9 and up . Beat a defender 1v1 . Create width and depth in possession
Wing Duel: Fullback
Set up
- Field
- Use the attacking third of the field with a full-size goal. Mark a 15-yard-wide lane along each sideline.
- Players
- 14 or more players. Organize six attackers, six defenders, one goalkeeper, and one server. Put one left winger in the left lane and one right winger in the right lane. Place one defender in each lane so both sides have a winger-versus-fullback 1v1. The remaining players play 4v4 in the central area between the lanes.
- Keeper
- Yes.
- Balls
- Position the server near midfield with a supply of balls.
How it runs
- 1.Only the winger and the outside fullback are allowed to play inside each wide lane.
- 2.The server starts the action by playing into either outside winger.
- 3.Allow the winger to turn and face the fullback before the defender applies full pressure; if the winger is struggling, reduce the defender's effort to roughly 50-75%.
- 4.The winger then attacks the outside back in a live 1v1.
- 5.The winger's first objective is to beat the fullback down the line.
- 6.The winger may serve the ball into the central 4v4 only after getting beyond the defender, using either a pass or a cross.
- 7.Once the central attacking team receives that service, it tries to score on the full-size goal.
After each rep
If the defending team wins possession, stop the phase and restart from the server at midfield.
