Trigger Point
Set up
- Field
- Mark a central area about 25x45 yrds with cones. At the end farthest from the full goal, create 2 gate goals for the defending team to attack after regaining possession.
- Players
- 10 or more players. Use 5 defenders against 4 attackers.
- Keeper
- Yes. One.
How it runs
- 1.Begin with the center back playing the ball back to the goalkeeper.
- 2.The goalkeeper clears with the feet, unopposed, toward the attacking team's midfield.
- 3.The attacking team receives the clearance and tries to score.
- 4.The defending group works to regain possession and, if successful, play through either gate goal.
- 5.A1 or A2 brings the ball under control and combines with the forwards to start the attack.
- 6.D5 reads the distance to the ball and decides whether the situation calls for high pressure or a deeper position.
- 7.When pressing, D5 closes and shows A2 inside.
- 8.D4 supports the pressure behind D5.
After each rep
D2 resets the next repetition with a pass back to the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper again clears toward the opposing midfield.
