Back Line: Zonal Shift

Set up

Field
Use half a field, about 60x50 yards, divided into 2 horizontal and 2 vertical zones.
Players
14 or more players. Set up 7 Red players plus a GK in a 4-1-2 formation against 6 Blue players in a 4-2. Position the coach near the Blue back line. Use an assistant coach for offside decisions if needed.
Balls
Keep balls beside the Red goal.

How it runs

  1. 1.Start when the Red goalkeeper distributes to the Red back 4.
  2. 2.Red keeps possession and attacks the full-size goal.
  3. 3.The Blue back 4 must stay inside the designated Back 4 Zone.
  4. 4.The two Blue forwards may move anywhere.
  5. 5.Red players are free to move without zone restrictions.
  6. 6.The Blue back line slides toward the strong side and protects the small gate goals.

How to win

Red scores by playing through the small gates. Blue scores in the full-size goal.
