Set up

Field
Mark a 15x15 square with cones. For more pressure, reduce the area to 10x10.
Players
3 or more players. Place two attackers inside the grid. Start one defender outside the grid, ready to enter.
Balls
Give one attacker the ball to begin. Keep extra balls nearby for quick restarts.

How it runs

  1. 1.Begin with one of the two attackers in possession inside the area.
  2. 2.The defender enters and immediately tries to win the ball.
  3. 3.The attackers use short, quick combinations to keep possession.
  4. 4.When possible, work the ball toward the back of the area to recreate the idea of building play forward.
  5. 5.Use first-time passing when the pressure and angle allow it so the ball moves faster than the defender can recover.
  6. 6.The player without the ball keeps moving to create an angle and a clear support option.
  7. 7.Keep the tempo high and minimize unnecessary stops.

After each rep

If the defender wins possession or the ball leaves the grid, restart with the attackers on the ball. Change the defender every 60-90 seconds so every player experiences the high-intensity defensive role. Vary the starting position of the ball from repetition to repetition.
