Bunt Tournament

A small-sided bunting game: three fielders at pitcher, first and third try to throw out a bunter racing to first, and every bunter who beats the throw scores a run.

15 min4-10 kids per groupinfieldlight arm load

Set up

Lay out a small diamond with bases 25 to 40 feet apart, closer for a newer group. Three players field at pitcher, first and third; one bunts, in a helmet. With five, the fifth stands well back behind the plate, in a helmet, to collect pitches and bunts next. A cone just left of the mound marks the edge of the bunting lane. With six or seven, the extra players also wait well back behind the plate in helmets and bunt in turn. With eight or more, lay out a second small diamond well apart and play two games side by side, a helper at each if you have one.
