Sign inFive Moves to Beat a Defender
12 min · Intermediate · 1+ players · Small area
Description
- Setup
- Each player with a ball, spread out with plenty of room. A cone in front of each player as the pretend defender.
- Play
- Teach one move at a time, walking pace first: step-over, scissor, inside-outside cut, drag-back, and the pull-and-push. Everyone does the move at their cone, then accelerates away for five yards.
- Score
- Ten clean reps of each move at walking pace before anyone speeds up.
- Progression
- Once a move looks right against a cone, pair up and try it against a defender who only walks.
- Harder
- Call the move at random so they cannot rehearse it.
- Easier
- One move for the whole session. Five moves badly is worth less than one move well.
